The race for the open U.S. Senate seat in Connecticut has become an all out brawl. Democratic nominee Richard Blumenthal has been outed for making false claims that he fought in the Vietnam War, and the likely Republican nominee – who faces her own party’s primary in August – is Linda McMahon, the former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment. McMahon has already confessed to passing along the Blumenthal-Vietnam story to The New York Times, and her former career may be giving her major trouble of her own. The father of Chris Benoit, who suffered from major brain injuries after a long career in wrestling, has written a letter to the Hartford Courant asking voters to reconsider McMahon’s role in making the sport more violent in the name of entertainment.

McMahon’s past should get more attention as the race slogs along. To see how she addresses her experience with the WWE, though, watch the following clip:

Discussion Questions:

1.  Will McMahon’s experience with the WWE be more of a liability for her campaign, or a benefit? Please explain your answer?

2.  When the time comes for McMahon to address her role in making wrestling violent what should she say?

3.  How should Dem. Richard Blumenthal strike back at McMahon?
